In the west, yoga *posture* practice abounds. It's become quite popular, so wonderful that folks are benefiting from the physical movements of yoga! However, because of the way our culture is oriented, the subtler, richer aspects of this ancient practice are often left behind. This is where we at Exhale step in- seeking to offer you no gimmicks, no latest trend/fad, but a step back to the foundational practices taught to us by Pantanjali and other sages thousands of years ago.
Our practices are rooted in these foundations. Yoga Sutra 1.2 tell us that "yoga is the calming of the fluctuations of the mind". This is our goal! Everything else we do, from our conscious breathwork to our postures to our meditation, is designed in support of that goal. We invite you to join us for small group yoga or schedule your private session.

Weekly Small Group Classes

All of our small group classes are designed to be inclusive to all bodies and abilities. We work to calm the mind (Yoga Sutra 1.2), cultivate comfort and stability in the body (YS 2.46), and incorporate the 8 limbs in to a well rounded practice. Nervous system nourishment, conscious breathwork, postures, guided relaxation and meditation are all components. Join us for: All Levels (balance of strength, flexibility and unwinding, customized to the students present that day) and Gentle Yoga (emphasis on soft unwinding within the body, without the focus on strength).

Price for small group yoga is $23 per class, or purchase a pack of 10 for $190 (use within 12 months). New students may purchase a pack of 3 classes for $46.

Yin Yoga & Reiki with Sara Burns, CYT
In this practice (limited to 5 students for truly individualized attention), you will be supported by the mat and a variety of props as you sink and breathe into gentle, held asanas for 2-10 minutes each. This gives the body time to truly surrender into each pose, unwinding tension patterns in the fascia and guiding the mind into quiet. In Yin yoga, the focus is on passive sinking, allowing the tissues to lengthen slowly. Some poses can be mildly intense, often giving way to profound release after several minutes. Truly the myofascial release of yoga.
Reiki will also be offered by Sara during select longer-held postures such as savasana (see the Reiki tab to learn more about this healing energy work modality). This restorative practice is designed to nurture you on every level. After the 75 minute practice, additional time is reserved for questions, sipping herbal tea, browsing our lending library, or simply digesting your experience with deep breaths on our beautiful deck.

Sound Bath and Gentle Yoga with Mindie Hung
Give yourself permission to relax, unwind and settle into deep rest in this restorative experience. We will begin with 20-30 minutes of conscious breath and gentle movement designed to prepare your body to lay in comfortable stillness, softly stretching into places of held tension. We will then surrender into the support of cushions and blankets for a guided relaxation as we prepare to receive the nourishment of sound healing.
Mindie Hung, a certified vibrational sound therapy practitioner, will bathe us in the sounds and vibrations of therapeutic bowls. These healing tones can help to reduce stress/stress hormones and reduce pain by sending you into the "rest and digest" parasympathetic nervous system response. With consent, bowls may be placed on students' bodies for a portion of the sound bath, furthering deep nourishment.

Private Yoga with Sarah Martyn, LMT, RYT-500
Each session is customized to meet your unique needs, whether you are a beginner wanting to get familiar with the practice before joining group classes, a seasoned yogi who would like to deepen alignment understanding, someone who is recovering from an injury who needs assistance in modifying your practice to meet your current needs, seeking private instruction in breathwork or relaxation/meditation practices for mental health wellness, or wanting one on one instruction for any other reason.
