Season of Giving Gentle Yoga

Sunday, December 1st, 2024

11:30am-1:00pm

In this specialty 90 minute practice, we will begin by discussing the importance of community action, and how a personal yoga practice translates to creating positive social change. 

We will then move through a gentle yoga practice designed to offer soft yet deep unwinding in the body. Breathwork, a luscious guided relaxation and meditation will complete this practice. 

Donation-based, all proceeds from this class will be gifted, split between the ACLU and the Human Rights Campaign. Suggested donation is $30-40 (but may be more or less depending on your means), and may be send via venmo @sarah-martyn-1 or paid via cash upon arrival. Please, no credit cards for this class.

Sound Bath and Gentle Yoga Experience 

Thursday, December 5th, 2024 (SOLD OUT); 2nd/3rd dates added Thursday, December 19th and Wednesday, January 15th

5:30-6:45pm 

Give yourself permission to relax, unwind and settle into deep rest in this restorative experience. We will begin with 20-30 minutes of conscious breath and gentle movement designed to prepare your body to lay in comfortable stillness, softly stretching into places of held tension. We will then surrender into the support of cushions and blankets for a guided relaxation as we prepare to receive the nourishment of sound healing.

Mindie Hung, a certified vibrational sound therapy practitioner, will bathe us in the sounds and vibrations of therapeutic bowls. These healing tones can help to reduce stress/stress hormones and reduce pain by sending you into the "rest and digest" parasympathetic nervous system response. With consent, bowls may be placed on students' bodies for a portion of the sound bath, furthering deep nourishment. 

Cost of this experience is $40. If there is demand, this will become a monthly offering!

Winter Solstice Sunset Restorative-Yin Yoga with Reiki

Recharge your batteries with self care this holiday season!  Join yin yoga teacher and Reiki energy worker, Sara Burns for a unique Winter Solstice experience.  After the majority of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season as passed, take some time for self care and reflection on the weekend of the shortest day of the year. 

After arrival and herbal tea, this workshop will include gentle yin yoga poses held and supported on props on the floor to make them more relaxing and restorative.  This allows for rejuvenation and time for introspection.  There will be time for some personalized Reiki energy work with gentle touch while relaxing in certain asanas.  Time will be dedicated to reflecting on the year that is behind us, Yule season traditions and the new year to come!  

This class is limited to 6 students to allow for an intimate, personalized experience.

Harvest Gratitude Gentle-Yin Yoga Workshop

Sunday November 3rd 2024

Join Sara Burns, CYT for a gratitude themed "Harvest Abundance" workshop.  Arrive for a comforting cup of tea at 4:30 and we will move into a gratitude ceremony and journaling as the sun sets.  The yoga portion of the workshop will be some light and gentle Yin asanas that align with the fall season, mixed in with some more Restorative ones.  Personalized Reiki energy work and essential oil aromatherapy will be offered during some of the poses.  Leave feeling grateful and refreshed as we move into the holiday season. This workshop is limited to 6 students to allow for individualized attention, and cost is $55.

Fall Into Autumn- a morning of nourishment 

Sunday November 19th, 2023

Join us for a morning of yoga and soul nourishment! This all levels practice will begin with yoga philosophy discussion (topic TBD) and move into a well rounded practice of balanced asana (postures), breathwork, extended guided relaxation for optimal nervous system nourishment and guided meditation. Herbal tea and infused water will be served, and time saved for questions or discussion. All are welcome. 

 

Yoga Immersion: Creating Space in the Overwhelm

In this often-busy time of year, we will explore the difference between time and spacious time, and how we can create the latter even when we don't feel like we have the former. We will discuss concrete ways we can create space for daily nourishment in our lives, inspired by source texts like the Yoga Sutras as well as Sarah's own 16 years of experience as a busy mom of four and as a wellness provider. 

From our discussion, we will move into an asana (posture), breath and meditation practice designed to ground us in the spaciousness of "now". The last half hour will be reserved for questions, discussion, or relaxing with a cup of tea on our deck. The intention of this immersion will be for you to leave feeling a sense of lightness, spaciousness, clarity and deep nourishment.

 

Spring Renewal Day Retreat- a wellness and yoga immersion 

Sunday April 23rd, 2023

In this mini retreat, we will immerse ourselves in self-care practices designed to nourish body, mind and spirit. Our day will begin with an all-levels yoga practice that incorporates philosophy discussion, balanced movement, conscious breathwork, guided relaxation and guided meditation. After that we will enjoy a vegetarian lunch*, journaling prompts** (if the weather is nice we can spill onto our lovely outdoor deck), instruction on self massage practices, a yoga nidra practice (deep guided relaxation) with Reiki/light touch massage incorporated, and a take home “craft” of creating a customized essential oil roller bottle. Our afternoon ends with tea and time for questions/personalized guidance.
