Somatic Mindfulness Sessions with Sarah Martyn
I am so happy to introduce a new mind/body modality to Exhale- Somatic Mindfulness. Geared towards those who enjoy reiki/energy work, gentle massage, and/or who are curious about a session that works beyond the physical body, this modality works with the nervous system and the subtle (energetic) body to invite profound healing on all levels. Combining somatics with energetic mindfulness and mindful, heart-ful touch, this session is all about inviting both client and practitioner to enter a space of connection, receptivity and ease. It is in this space that healing, down-regulation of the nervous system, and the release of what-does-not-serve in both body and mind can happen more effortlessly.
In a 60 minute somatic mindfulness session, client is supine (face-up) for the entirety of the session, and may choose to remain fully clothed, or to undress as they normally would for massage. The session begins with a guided body scan and breath awareness before the practitioner moves around the space of the body (with gentle, nurturing touch that may move or be held in stillness). Recipients of somatic mindfulness often experience a feeling of being grounded yet light/spacious, as well as more deeply feeling the experience of existing in their bodies. In this space, chronic tension holding patterns can begin to unwind and greater ease found.
In a 90 minute session, the client will spend time prone (face-down) as well, is undressed as they would be for massage, and more traditional massage techniques are woven into the session.
Pricing is the same as our other bodywork sessions ($130/60 minute, $175/90 minute, with packages available). This session is booked with Sarah (owner of Exhale).
